Justin Fryer Will Be the Newest Superintendent of
Lisbon Public Schools
The Lisbon Public School District, as lead by their School Board, is pleased to announce they have found their newest Superintendent. Justin Fryer will replace Dr. Steven L. Johnson, retiring on June 30th , 2021 after 28 years of service to the district. Superintendent Fryer will begin his role on July 1, 2021.
Justin Fryer became the superintendent of Solen Public School District in July 2013. Before becoming superintendent, he served as an elementary principal, instructional coach, and 5th grade classroom teacher in Solen School District. He was born and raised on the Sisseton Wahpeton Reservation in the northeast corner of South Dakota. Mr. Fryer earned both his M.S. in administration,
teaching, and learning and B.S. in elementary education from Northern State University. He is currently pursuing his Ed. D. from Liberty University. Before moving to North Dakota, Mr. Fryer taught elementary students in Somerton, Arizona and Faulkton, SD. Superintendent Fryer has spent a significant amount of time during his career fighting for educational equity among impoverished students. Mr. Fryer has presented at several state and national conferences on school leadership, classroom innovation, school improvement, and using data to guide school district initiatives. Justin Fryer was select as the 2020-2021 North Dakota Superintendent of the Year.
He and his wife, Sheila, a graphic artist for the North Dakota State Water Commission, have two children. The entire family is excited to move to Lisbon and looks forward to getting to know the entire community.
