The SE Region Career and Technology Center, in cooperation with Fairmount, Campbell-Tintah, Hankinson, Lidgerwood, Lisbon, Ellendale, Oakes, Richland #44, Sargent Central, Wahpeton, and Wyndmere School Districts are offering students who have completed grades 4-5-6 at the end of May 2018 , some leading edge learning opportunities centered in a participative learning environment through the 2018 STEM Academy.
The Academy will be held July 30, 31st; August 1st & 2nd and will run from 9 AM until 3 PM each day.
Students will sign up for the session/s that interested them The STEM Academies are designed to provide students with a variety of experiences and learning activities that enhance their foundation skills in Math, Science and Technology with a career and activity focus that centers around Engineering related careers. Students are active participants and all activities are “hands-on” in their instructional design.
It is our primary goal to create excitement and increase the knowledge of middle school age students in these areas and how these core academic skills are an integral part of engineering and related technical fields. A variety of high interest, high energy activities that actively engage each and every student will take place each day. Area master teachers with a proven history of utilizing a variety of leading edge technology will lead daily learning activities.
Two STEM Academy sessions are being offered, with locations in Lisbon and Wahpeton. Students will go through a formal STEM Academy application procedure and selection process. Applications are available and open to students from all SE Region Career and Technology Center Partner School Districts.
FEES AND REGISTRATION
The STEM Academy fee is $35 per day or $125 for the entire STEM Academy. $25 Deposit due with application Enrollment is limited in order to insure low student teacher ratios in the highest quality learning setting possible. Students will receive several “take home” projects at no additional cost.
Lunches will be a combination of provided meals and brown bag.
The applicant must complete the reverse side of this form and return by June 26 along with their $25 deposit to the address on the other side. Students will be notified of their acceptance no later than June 27th Completing an application does not guarantee acceptance!
